Week 9 Guiding Questions

Learnings from www.felconline.ca

1. After going through the Roles section (videos, vignettes, questions, etc.) and learning about the role of the AT, what might you do differently as a teacher candidate? Why?

AT is there as a model and a guide. As they have more experience and know and understand the students more than myself, I would ask the AT for guidance. I would ask the AT if my thought of planning the lesson will be effective for all students. I would ask for descriptive feedback on my lesson plans and lessons and I would use his knowledge and expertise to modify my practices. I would work as a teaching partner with my AT to plan lessons to make learning effective.

2. After going through the Feedback section, how might YOU use this section (or parts of this section) in your field experience? Why?

Feedback is an important part of growth. As I am a new TC I would use the feedback from my AT. I aim to create a good learning relationship with the AT so that we are bother comfortable in giving and receiving feedback. I would ask my AT for specific feedback on what I did well and what I need to improve on and use it to learn and plan further lessons.

3. Research on FELConline found that ATs did not visit the P-T section as much as the other sections, however, they insisted that the section remains on the learning tool. A) How might you explain this finding?  B) What page(s)/slide(s) of the P-T section will be most helpful to you as a beginning teacher? Why?

Teachers have a lot of different tasks to do on a daily basis and are usually very busy. They have also gone through this process of being a new teacher on placement so may feel that they already know the basics so to save time overlook some parts they feel aren't as important.

I found slide 9 as the most informative for myself especially the supportive resources that help us connect the conceptual knowledge that we have been learning in the classrooms to the actually practical implementations. This will help me to plan lesson
